Gorilla Trekking Uganda & Rwanda

Mountain Gorilla Series
These photographs were taken in remote national Parks, reserved for the preservation of native mountain gorillas, in Uganda and Rwanda in August 2009. Many devoted and dedicated people and organizations have been involved in the protection of these free-living creatures, who resemble humans in so many ways. Dian Fossey is the most recognized name, more than several decades after her death. Given the collaboration and efforts of these pioneers, a whole new realm of travel called ecotourism has developed and allowed people to travel into this untainted world. Having the privilege of being eye-to-eye with a wild mountain gorilla has a way of bringing the mind and human spirit into the present moment. Essentially the human factor is vital in the conservation of these amazing creatures. To survive, we must experience our connection and relatedness. It is about mutuality, care & respect. What might it mean to co-exist?
